Looking for help with today’s Wordle? Look no further. A wealth of hints, tips and other useful items await, not to mention a bonus Custom Wordle and more.

We’re in British Columbia for a fun summer vacation, but I’m still solving my daily Wordle. I’m going to skip the Wordle Wednesday puzzle today due to travel madness, but we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming soon enough. Let’s get this Wordle down, shall we?

Looking for a Tuesday Wordle? See our guide here.

Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle

Now that we can create our own custom Wordles, I’m including a bonus Wordle with each daily Wordle guide. These can be 4 to 7 letters. Hopefully this is a fun extra challenge. Click the link below to play the Wordle I hand made for you.

Today’s bonus Custom Wordle it is 6 letters.

The hint: Out in the ocean.

The indication: This Wordle begins with a vowel.

Yesterday’s Wordle custom answer: TRAVEL

How to play Wordle

Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or less. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:

  • Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct place.
  • Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong place.
  • Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.

Use these clues to limit your guesswork. Every day brings a new word and everyone around the world tries to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot, or even me, your humble storyteller. See the rules for Competitive Wordle towards the end of this post.

Today’s Wordle Tips and Answers

  • Wordle Bot’s original word: SHALE
  • My opening word today: STORY (24 words left)
  • The hint: This month celebrates this group (among others, of course).
  • The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

Well, spoilers below! The answer is coming!

Bot Wordle Analysis

Every day I check the Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.

FEARS was a lousy initial guess, leaving me with 213 words and two yellow boxes. POINT reduced that number to 35, but gave me zero more boxes. Finally, BLUER got my initials in green and gave me a yellow ‘U’ as well. I had four words left, but when I thought of QUEER and how June is Pride month, I had to guess. Lucky me!

Competitive Wordle Score

Wordle Bot

I get 0 points for guessing four and 1 for beating the Bot. Bot loses 1 for guessing in five and -1 for losing to me. Our new June sets become:

Eric: 20 points

Wordle Bot: 5 points

How to play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing at 1 is worth 3 points. Guessing in 2 is worth 2 points. Guessing in 3 is worth 1 point. Guessing on 4 is worth 0 points. Guessing in 5 is -1 points. Guessing 6 is -2 marks and missing the Wordle is -3 marks.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score every day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points — positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle etymology

“Queer” comes from the German quer, meaning “lopsided, off-center, or odd.” It entered Scots and then English in the 16th century with the meaning “strange”, “quirky” or “out of place”. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries it became a derogatory term for homosexuals, but from the late 20th century onwards it has been widely reclaimed and is now used by many as a positive umbrella term for LGBTQ+ identities.
