Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson are undoubtedly the two best fighters in the smaller weight categories. However, one legitimate criticism that can be thrown in the direction of the two fighters is the lack of quality wins.
To be fair, Stevenson always actively chases the provocative battles – including one with Davis. On the other hand, Davis, the fighter with the biggest next, seems to be the most fleeting and difficult opponent to secure a fight.
Former IBF champion and lightweight George Kambosos younger and its dad/manager, Jim Kambosos, do not differentiate. A recent videoCampos took a shot to both men with the eldest called “Houdinis of Boxing” for what was mentioned as extinct acts.

To be fair and accurate, during Davis’ career, he has struggled five current or former world champions: Lamont Roach Jr., Jose Pedraza, Leo Santa Cruz, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Mario Barrios. Campos fought four different opponents in five matches: Devin Haney (twice), Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez and Lee Selby.
However, you can make a strong argument that Kambosos still has the edge of the timetable power. On the other hand, some of the Kambosos fighters are said to be not considered legal world champions.
For example, his next opponent, Daud Yordan, was IBO champion, who is not recognized as a legal world title in the four -zone era. In this case, he gives himself belief that he has been fighting or planned to fight the champions or former world champions in every match for the last six years.
This is not absolutely accurate.
Stevenson fought three current or former world champions: Robson Conceição, Oscar Valdez and Jamel Herring. This is easily the weakest set of champions or former Champs compared to Kambosos and Davis. However, as I said, I am not mistaken Stevenson for this fact.
It may be the most avoidable fighter in the sport, and as we know, two are needed in Tango. Davis is the only fighter of the three to control all three boxes.
Kambosos is an exciting guy with a pleasant style that seem to be afraid of the opponent, but his record against the best fighters is 2-3.
Davis is 4-0-1 and Stevenson is 3-0. Stevenson found it difficult to get the casual fan to appreciate what he brings to the ring, but no one who understands the sport questioning his ability. It can be the most specialized fighter in the sport.
I was in Davis’ match against Roach on March 1 in Brooklyn and the energy in the arena was undeniable. The tank brings people out, and there is a feeling in the air when a legal superstar struggles. This aura is present for a Davis match.
With Campos moving to 140, he can never have the opportunity to confuse Davis, but it is easy to imagine a world facing Stevenson. At this point, we will see if Houdini can complain.
