Dungeons are the most iconic location Dungeons & Dragons adventures. It’s right there in the name. Where else can adventurers find clever traps, menacing monsters, and piles of treasure to crawl into a classic place?
The burden of finding interesting places to explore often falls to the Dungeon Master. It’s up to them to draw from their imaginations, pop culture, and other sources of inspiration. Sometimes it’s really helpful to have a preset dungeon or two to steal ideas from or throw whole cloth into place.

What are Dungeon Crawl Classics?
Goodman Games was created Dungeon Crawl Classics in 2003. They are a tribute to his early units D&D which focused on odd locations and plot sketches. Players explored the dungeon and pieced together the story at their own pace, avoiding deadly traps and encounters.
This package includes the first run of it Dungeon Crawl Classics which were made for its third edition Dungeons & Dragons. The units look and feel like the older ones, often using artists from the original TSR era for new art. It’s similar to how shows about the 80s and 90s embrace the aesthetics of those eras in their presentation and marketing.
in 2012, Dungeon Crawl Classics released a standalone RPG that kept the old school dungeon crawling feel with a new set of game mechanics. This version has evolved in different directions, including a far future version and books that explore the pulp fantasy settings that inspired this style of play. At Gen Con 2024, XCrawl Classics used the new system for an environment where dungeons are America’s favorite death sport.
Dungeon Crawl Classics Collections
At the lowest level, this offering includes several titles that are standalone dungeons. These can be incorporated into an ongoing campaign, used as night shots where a normal campaign can’t be met, or even taken out individually and placed into original stories.
Higher level unlocks more adventures as well as campaigns and settings. Saga of the Dragon Cult adds new scenes and information to pre-existing adventures to tell a larger story. Instead of wandering into these places by chance, these players are now on the trail of a cult that seeks to resurrect a long-dead dragon for their nefarious purposes.
This collection also includes Castle Whiterock which is Goodman Games’ signature megadungeon. Megadungeons is a dungeon that spans an entire campaign. A new edition made for Fifth Edition and Dungeon Crawl Classics is coming soon.
