Updated on June 9 with more details on the 26 -series software release dates.
Apple’s next generation of software is to be announced on Monday, June 9th at the World Wide Developers conference. This will introduce new editions of the software authorizing iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and much more.
The next iPhone operating system is to be announced. But when can you try it?
So when can you download it and install it? Well, as in life, it depends on who you are. The first people to access will be developers who will watch the WWDC Keynote as strongly as everyone starts at 10am. Pacific on June 9 and this will be confirmed by the new name, it is considered to be iOS 26 instead of iOS 19 you would expect to follow the current iOS 18.
The new name is to be standardized throughout the area of software platforms, such as MacOS 26, iPados 26 and Watchos 26.
Beta Developer Release Date: Monday, June 9
Traditionally, Beta Developer releases come the same day as Keynote. Once upon a time, the new software was available during Keynote, but the view of thousands of developers trying to download the files at the same time should have been enough to cause the most confident Wi-Fi providers in the event of heebeejebeebees. Whatever the reason, it is no longer available for receiving during the conference, but later the same day is probably.
In addition to iOS 26, thanks to a new name contract that applies to other software, we can also wait to see the first Betas Betas developers of iPados 26, MacOS 26, Watchos 26, Tvos 26 and Visionos 26 appear at the same time or at the same time, the same day.
Beta Public Release: July
Then the software will be available for anyone who is not a programmer. Apple will announce this to Keynote, but it’s almost always the month after the specified WWDC. This allows Apple to release some betas to developers, perhaps even three, before getting the latter and making it the first public beta. This promises a greater level of stability for the public to use. However, it is still recommended to install beta on a secondary device, as there are problems, especially early in the beta cycle.
Both the programmer and the public releases will continue in the summer, usually with increasing frequency, until the final release to the general public is ready.
General Edition: September
Apple always releases iOS in September, which coincides with the latest iPhone series. Assuming that there is no change this year, full general release is likely to come in the third week of September.
Not everyone wants to jump right away to a new operating system, but Apple has covered you here: Along with the general release of iOS 26, there will be simultaneous iOS 18 software releases that ensures that users can enjoy the benefits of security updates while deciding when to fill iOS 26.
Expect that this will continue for at least the first two months, ie at the end of October or November. Finally these additional iOS 18 updates will stop and the only way to stay up to date will be to take the jump on iOS 26.
The software will be compatible with the iPhone 2025 hardware releases and many iPhones released before it, although not all features will be presented on WWDC will operate on all iPhones – as well as Apple Intelligence only on the iPhone 16 Series, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro max.
