How Real Time Watching Can Lead A Greener Future

The climate changes. Nowhere is it no more obvious than in our oceans, marked by crushing fish stocks and an abundance of floating plastic waste. These shifts are not only statistics – they are visible in real time to those who spend time in the water.

Finnish Navy and Environmental Lawyer Tapio Lehtinen has seen These first -hand changes for decades of sailing and his experiences have led him to support solutions that face climate change. Some can be found in amazing places. Lehtinen is now working with logistics and technology companies to support sailing missions and bring about climate solutions.

As Managing Director of a Technological Society and a greedy navy and nature lover, Lehtinen’s goals reacted with me. Treating climate change requires interventions in many areas, including technology -based approaches that improve effectiveness and reduce waste.

I believe that a solution to the problem of the abundant waste on our planet comes from the management of smart assets, real -time location systems and location -based services (LBS). But you can ask, what has to do with asset monitoring with climate crisis? Knowing exactly what you have and where you have, companies can limit both excessive and plastic production. Let me explain further how the two can support each other.

How Location Services Support Sustainability

Location services and viability are closerly linked to what may look at first glance. In a world where waste reduction and resources are critical, the ability to monitor real -time assets has become an essential part of sustainable businesses. Location technology can also be used to monitor visitors, monitor maximum capacity and redefinition visitors to busy museums or Prevent Happiness in national parksfor example. RTLS uses a variety of technologies and methodologies – including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) and GPS – to provide monitoring of assets with different levels of accuracy.

The data collected by RTLS is processed through software platforms that provide visibility, analysis and automation capabilities in real time. Business administrators can use RTLs to find any asset in an industrial size warehouse and automatically maintain an automatically updated, complete inventory of assets. From Simple Forklift vehicle spare parts to e -commerce parcels, the underlying idea is that before ordering more, you can check what you already have.

In industrial environments, technology contributes to rationalizing the functions of the supply chain. For example, it can reduce the use of energy by optimizing forklift routes in the warehouse, ensuring that the tools are readily available at work stations and avoiding both shrinking and excessive.

Creation of a circular economy

As industries face increasing pressure on the transition to a circular economy neutral from carbon, the focus is shifted from a linear “download-distribution” model to one that prioritizes products designed for reuse, renovation and recycling. In a circular economy, assets can be redefined to create a closed loop of materials. This displacement reduces the dependence on the raw materials of the virgin, minimizes waste and reduces environmental impacts.

By providing accurate monitoring of materials inside and around industrial installations, RTLs help restore resources and materials more effectively, extend the life cycles of the products (improve prediction maintenance, increase the life of the product, avoid breaking and reducing production time) and reduce production and production time). This level of efficiency directly supports sustainability goals.

Reduce plastic waste

You may still be struggling to see the relationship between the management of assets and the maintenance of the oceans – and why Lehtinen supports this technology. But consider that plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges, with estimated 200 million tonnes of plastic waste Already in the oceans, increasing by over 8 million tonnes each year. RTLS also enhances recycling efforts by providing better detectability of spare parts, materials and vehicles used to support daily activities. The packaging of such objects is often made of plastic, which often ends in landfill or ocean. By incorporating RTL into their activities, businesses can adopt a preventive approach to reduce plastic waste, support sustainability targets and healthy oceans.

Challenges and opportunities

As explained in a previous article, sustainability regulations are not always considered profitable for businesses. Unfortunately, companies often believe the opposite, assuming that the green economy is a limit to their business capabilities. This is far from the truth, especially when daily businesses are analyzed in both productivity and operating costs.

But where to start? The first step is to consult an expert supplier or consultant with a strong history of location solutions for industrial facilities. An up -to -date partner can quickly evaluate your needs, gather feasibility requirements and propose one or two solutions that balance the initial cost of investment with expected returns. This early evaluation helps to ensure that the selected solution is aligned with both business objectives and budget limitations.

Once a possible solution is identified, it is important to try it in a real setting before committing a full scale. The budget for a pilot test with a limited period of time-overly three to six months-through your ability allows businesses to evaluate the performance of technology under actual operating conditions. While many providers can show impressive demos in controlled environments, only a real industrial space can reveal potential restrictions.

Technology as a climate solution

Real -time location monitoring is not an autonomous repair for the carbon footprint of the logistics sector, but it is part of a larger ecosystem of solutions. As businesses are increasingly giving the management of cost reduction assets, this will positively affect overall viability, creating a more efficient and low carbon future.
