‘Deadlock’ Patch Notes Bring Major Bebop Nerfs

Bebop gets some major nerfs in the latest Deadlock patch.

It may be the weekend, but that hasn’t stopped Valve from releasing a small Deadlock patch that focuses on nerfing Bebop, who has been very strong for the past few days.

The new Deadlock The patch, which was released overnight, only features eight changes, but six of them target Bebop, and all of them are significant nerfs. You can see all the changes to Bebop below, but simply put almost everything his ultimate can do has been nerfed, from cooldown to damage to slow.

Hyper Beam’s cooldown has been increased by 13 seconds, while its duration at level one has been reduced by eight, meaning the uptime is now significantly shorter. Slow is down by 10% and DPS is down by 15. So, simply put, all of these ultimate focused builds are now pretty useless.

The nerf hammer was thrown at Bebop so hard because the last patch, from earlier in the week, hit him a little too hard. Since he was a slightly underwhelming hero Deadlock for a while, a round of buffs in the last patch turned him into something of a monster, especially when you focused on using his ultimate’s large laser beam. He was so strong that you’d see someone playing him almost every match, which obviously isn’t ideal, balance-wise.

Elsewhere inside the patch notesMcGinnis gets a small buff to Medicinal Spectre, with the spirit radius reduced from 0.07 to 0.05, which is probably a change so small that most players won’t even notice it. Then there’s also a nerf to Ammo Scavenger, with the duration of the buff dropping from 40 seconds to 35.

While this isn’t a major patch, it’s interesting that Valve released a patch that is all nerfs. In dota 2, where Deadlock teased during a big tournament yesterday, it’s rare to see a patch that’s all nerfs, even if it’s designed to take down some of the top heroes in the current meta. However, this could just be something we’re seeing during this early testing phase Deadlock.

Deadlock Bebop Nerfs

Hyper Beam cooldown increased from 117 to 130

Hyper Beam T1 reduced from -38s to -30s

Hyper Beam final radius reduced from 5m to 4m

Hyper Beam slow reduced from 40% to 30%

Hyper Beam DPS reduced from 220 to 205

Hyper Beam DPS scale reduced from 3 to 2.7
