Daredevil: Born Again
Disney
We are now at the end of it Daredevil: Born Again season 2, a season that has produced some of the best MCU episodes in the history of Disney Plus or Netflix or ABC (it’s pretty long over the years). But the show is ridiculously lax about protecting future lines for the show, and this has now happened for the second time when it comes to Daredevil: Born Again season 3. Obviously, spoilers follow.
Previously, it was leaked that Mike Colter and Finn Jones would be returning as Luke Cage and Iron Fist for Season 3, a leak so extensive that there were official Getty Images of them on set, with no comment from the show or Marvel about their addition.
Now; We meet another character coming in season 3. Or a transformed character, at least. That would be Heather Glenn, who literally appeared in 4K on set in a full Lady Muse look, the female version of the serial killer she dispatched in Season 1, who has haunted her ever since. You can see these images here, which are now spread everywhere on social media.
While we know that things have leaned over in that direction this season, it’s now simply confirmed that we’ll be going next, though it does raise questions about how this adaptation will handle itself, based on the source material. From a previous piece I wrote when this was just speculation:
“In the comics, a girl named Morgan Whittier was a young artist whose soul went to hell and met Muse. Muse began communicating with her, appearing as a voice to her and later, a literal visible ghost-like figure. His influence spreads throughout her fragile mind, and eventually, she is convinced to kill her teacher to make his whole body. Daredevil’s costume (a whole other plotline goes on then, eventually, she starts wearing an outfit like Musa, kidnaps and kills a classmate, but is eventually killed by Elektra after a confrontation).
What seems to be happening is a “grounded” street-level version of this story. Muse is not shown to have any supernatural powers at any point. he was just (somewhat inexplicably) good at fighting. Although not so good as he ended up getting shot and killed by a civilian.
Muse isn’t talking to Glenn here from hell, she’s just having a mental breakdown, haunted by the trauma of what happened, which clearly leads to some sort of violent breakdown.
As for that Elektra piece? Who knows. We know the character is on a “wish list” for the series, though that’s the kind of thing you could tell if he was already on board. And if it is, it’ll probably leak from the set soon too, as we’ve seen with Daredevil’s new suit, Jessica Jones returning, and now Luke Cage and Iron Fist before that.
An open question here is that there is nothing in a grounded version of this story that would give Glenn the ability to fight, supernaturally aided or otherwise. She would have to be some sort of “in the shadows” style serial killer, as a direct confrontation with Daredevil, or anyone really, would take her out. Unless the show has some invisible trick up its sleeve here. I guess we have a character with a magical power-giving talisman rolling around right now as well. We’ll see. Or the staged photos will show us.
