Today’s Wordle etymology
The term doctrine comes from the Greek word doctrine (doctrine), meaning “what appears to one, opinion, belief.” It comes from the verb doc (δοκεῖν), meaning “seem, think, or suppose.” In classical Greek, doctrine it referred to a philosophical doctrine or edict.
The term was later adopted into Latin as doctrinemaintaining the sense of a fixed belief or authoritative decree, especially in religious or philosophical contexts. Over time, it entered English in the 16th century, where it came to mean a principle or set of principles defined by an authority as unquestionably true.
