Elon Musk’s rocket company will open a one -hour boot window on Monday for its eighth flight Spacex Starship From Starbase to South Texas.

Blastoff could only happen at 6:30 pm Et on March 3 after the delay from February 28. The mass rocket will again carry out a Super Flight Test, with the Super Heavy Booster separating shortly after liftoff to return to the launch tower and Starship’s spacecraft continuing on its journey before the Indian Ocean attempt.

The effort comes in the heels of a seventh flight in January that ended early and abruptly to what the company is jokingly referred to as a “quick disassembly” or “rud”, known for the lay people as an explosion. The Starship’s upper scene broke shortly after the Super Heavy Booster was successfully pulled on the launch pad for the first time by the SpaceX “Chop Sticks” mechanism.

Fireworks are part of the process

For over two decades, the company has pushed an aggressive cycle of growth and repetition of technology as part of the Musk vision to reduce the cost of access and exploration, making as many components as possible.

Space heritage programs governed by state -funded organizations, such as NASA, usually designed rockets to be single -use, with expanded amplifiers usually falling into the ocean. Space accessories can stay there or eventually burn with readiness in the Earth’s atmosphere.

The space bus represented a move towards reuse, but was relatively limited to its area, never making it far beyond the orbit.

SpaceX and Musk, on the other hand, have great ambitions to send thousands of people to create a presence on Mars and maybe elsewhere in the solar system. Such a magnificent vision requires many trips between land and other worlds, leading the desire for reuse.

But calling on such systems of reuse exploration space was difficult and the spectacle of many ruds or explosions in the development process was created. SpaceX often celebrates such incidents, which FAA describes as “accidents” as part of the process that may not be desirable, but is not completely unexpected.

“Development tests by definition are unpredictable,” the company said in a statement. “But by placing a flight material in a flight environment as often as possible, we are able to learn quickly and perform changes in the design as we seek to bring Starship Online as a complete and rapidly reusable vehicle.”

How to watch

The launch will be transmitted via SpaceX x.com feeding below.

During the flight, SpaceX plans to test Starship’s ability to develop beneficial loads by simulating the growth of Starlink satellites with what amount essentially in four satellites.

The team also hopes to gather data on how the Starship’s upper scene responds to certain stressors that will allow it to return to the launch site after completing a future mission.
