“Ruffy and Riverside” could be a cult classic when it lands on computers and consoles in April.
Indie developers and publishers go crazy during the Q1, and it is difficult to watch the cultivation cream – especially as this tendency towards the previews that can be reproduced continues to intensify. Still, a handful of games have proven to be worthy of the Wishlist status, including a retro inspired platform title from a new German studio.
Ruffy and the riverA hand -painted, glorious colorful and personality full of open world action adventure draws from the fifth generation console platform. Specifically, the sympathetic Banjo-kazooie; Spyro the Dragon; Super Mario 64. It’s not just inventive, satisfying and effortlessly fun to play – it’s beautiful, original and has a soundtrack of murderers for boot. Still, given the origin of the game, this is not very strange.
It is the debut creation of Jokratis workshopsA German team of designers, developers and musicians based in Nuremberg. They started as video games artists, but after the arrest of Bromic The idea in 2017 was established as a studio to pursue their dream of making a debut release with “excellent gameplay, aesthetic enjoyment in graphics and music and, above all, very fun”.
After playing his limited demo, there is every chance of a real blow when he finally lands on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch at some point in April, mainly due to his fantastic mechanical core.
Players take on the role of Ruffy, the “selected”, in an attempt to stop the bad Groll from disturbing the world core. Along the way, Ruffy works with cargo loads of peculiar characters, traveling to seven separate areas, where players can shift between 3D exploration and 2D platform.
Ruffy and the river It highlights the creative problem solving, discovery and playful experimentation, especially through the fairly incredible mechanical “exchange”. This allows players to copy and paste the textures to change the environment, such as changing the ice in lava, transforming waterfalls into rising vines and all the other cheats that help solve puzzles, defeat the bad and unlock new Riverside areas.
Both the 2D and 3D platform are the experience.
There are also many side searches and minigames promised, including a highly enigmatic Haybale competition based Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. There is also a collectible boat such as butterflies, so -called “etoi” creatures and coins.
Right now, the demo promises only a taste of what will come – Zokratis continues to change the formula until the April release date – but the short teaser shows how huge the game will be and shows the huge amount of potential It has, especially with the ability to exchange. While it is a huge comparison to make, Bromic It is very reminiscent Super Mario Odyssey: A game that seems to reward players for ingenuity, giving them the freedom to do things in their own preferred way.
Take care of my review of Ruffy and the river Once it finally landed on PC, Switch, PlayStation and Xbox – and meanwhile, See Demo in Steam.
