There are some cool new Dota features.

Overnight Valve released the seasonal Dota Further update, but hidden at the bottom of the patch notes was a brand new feature added to the game, Dota Labs, but fans are unhappy as this is not the expected Crownfall update.

Dota Labs are a group of experimental features that Valve hasn’t been able to properly test internally, so it’s opening them up to the masses to get more data on how they work. If successful, they could remain as permanent additions Dotabut if not, they will probably remain just a test.

His first round Dota Laboratories it has three main characteristics. the overlay map, mod key filter links and high visibility local hero health bar.

The first is a large map that takes up the entire screen but is also transparent and only appears when you hold down the assigned button. It’s an interesting idea and could be useful, giving you a larger minimap could allow you to be more accurate with pings and plans, but after 10+ years with the standard map I’m likely not going to use . Early reports also suggest that there’s a lack of options attached to it, so there’s no way to change the opacity or move it with a toggle key press instead of waiting.

Modifier key filter links sound a bit more useful for everyone, but they could almost feel like cheating. The idea is that with the press of a button you can limit which abilities you can cast, so holding down the modifier key could prevent you from casting a single target ability on a creep instead of a hero by misclicking . It is undoubtedly useful for many players, but its essence Dota it’s that it’s punishingly hard, and that seems like a step too far to make it easier.

Finally, the high visibility local hero health bar basically does what it says on the tin. It changes your own health bar to be different from others so when there are many heroes in a small area you can easily identify your stats. This sounds like the most useful of the three new features, but it seems that this option is buggy and doesn’t work properly for many players.

You can enable all three of these Dota Labs settings in a new tab in the settings menu, where all Dota Workshop updates will be live for now. Valve will apparently collect data from those who use it Dota Labs features but also solicits immediate feedback on community platforms.

While more features are coming Dota Never a bad thing, some players on Reddit and other community hubs have expressed their frustration with this update and how small it is. We’ve been waiting months for a major update that includes major new cosmetics that would normally arrive with the battle pass, and there’s no sign that it’s coming anytime soon. The next update, which we know is called Crownfall, was expected to launch this week with the new one Dota Plus season, but given the overnight patch that now seems very unlikely.
