“I will decide after this next race,” Whittaker said. So one more in Middleweight, was asked? “At least, depending on … I will try to promote the limits of weight ratio and see where they come from.”
Moments later, Whittaker shared that he would like to fight Sean Strickland in the international race.
Whittaker is one of the best strikers in UFC and one of the best rounded in the sport. The 34 -year -old comes from a catastrophic loss of first round submission to Khamzat Chimaev in October 2024 at UFC 308. The loss that fell into Whittaker’s lower teeth and Injury required surgery to be fully treated.
Prior to the loss of Chimaev, Whittaker seemed to pound on the road to a title that fired at 185 pounds. He had made a unanimous decision to victory over Paulo Costa in February 2024 and a thunderous KO victory over Ikram Aliskerov in June 2024.
However, at the age of Whittaker and now 34 professional battles and 23 UFC periods in his career, he may be ready to move away from the weight that is reduced to 185 pounds. It appears at 6 feet even, Whittaker is not a long type and will be on the shortest side of the light spectrum of heavyweight size.
Think of this: The shortest fighter today ranked at top 10 in the lightweight heavyweight is Khalil Rountree Jr., and is 6-foot-1. The champion, Magomed Ankalaev, is 6-foot-3.
Whittaker has tons of experience and also has lightning hands, but you are wondering how to match the biggest lightweight heavy heavyweight.
As for the struggle he wants, he makes the most meaning for him and the whole Middleweight section. Both he and Strickland come from the losses to the children who will probably compete in the next Middleweight Championship match.

Dr Blessis won his rematch with Strickland in February and Whittaker fell on Chimaev. DDP is expected to face Chimaev In a title battle sometime this summer. With Strickland ranking No. 2 and Whittaker at No. 5, you have to wonder where the winner will stand when it comes to a possible title.
Strickland has lost the DDP twice and Whittaker has fallen to the champion once. Nassourdine Imavov is today the fighter paid by No. 1 below DDP, but it seems that the title of Chimaev was already engraved on stone before the first one scored a TKO victory over Israel Adesanya in February.
If Chimaev wins, I can see DDP get an immediate rematch. If he wins the DDP, he is quite simple – he will probably defend his title against Imavov, and if he wins this race, the DDP will probably head for the lightweight heavyweight.
As you can see, it is a wet situation at the top of the Middleweight section and the hope is that a new set of urgent candidates and champions will emerge. Soon we will know where the whittaker fits the mixture.
