On Thursday, August 14th, Apple released an unexpected iPhone software update to allow a function missing the Apple Watch, monitoring blood oxygen, to return. Now, it seems that there is another surprise on the road: another iPhone update. Here we know.

The latest update, which was a surprise in itself, was iOS 18.6.1. Its unexpected nature came from the fact that this slow in the cycle, the updates are rare and because they had a purpose, to resurrect the blood -oxygen monitoring feature that Apple US watches did not have for 18 months. You can read a complete analysis of what happened here and how to use the new blood oxygen feature here.
Now, a private account leak, but a stable history when it comes to iOS versions, said the next update, possibly called iOS 18.6.2, is on its way.
The leak was taken by Joe Rossignol in Macro. “Specifically, Laker said he had seen signs of 18.6.2 with a 22G100 construction number. However, in a private message, they said that the information would simply end up being a revised version of iOS 18.6.1,” Rossignol said.
This could mean that release last week has not worked enough as it should for some Apple Watch users or that additional data are coming.
I have heard that some users have found that the application of blood oxygen behaves differently in the days since it is installed, so it could be related to it.
As for when we can wait to see this update, it could only be today (Monday, August 18) or later this week.
For reference, the construction number of the current version of iOS 18.6.1 is 22G90 and, as mentioned above, the rumored next version will have a 22G100 construction number.
One possibility is that it will only appear for a few iPhones, rather than for everyone.
I will update this post as soon as it is released, so check again.
