In a strange move, another drawing from his end Armored core VI that most players haven’t seen is getting a Robot Damashii game.
The design is based on Steel Haze Ortuswhich Rusty pilot on his penultimate missions Armored core VI.
It is also a beautiful design. Long-standing Gundam mechanical designer Takayuki Yanase crafted this elegant and complex mech, perfectly suited to Rusty’s high-speed fighting style. Yanase also started his career at FromSoftware, so it was nice to see him come back to design for them again.
However, like the SOL 644 and HAL 826 game versions, both of which were late game bosses, Ortus is something most players will not have seen.
This is because according to the achievements for Armored core VIonly approx 30% of players reached the end of the game.
To be honest, this is a strange strategy from Bandai Spirits and not overly consistent with other mech properties they handle.
Normally, the games of the mecha title from the exhibition are made for general release, with later designs ending up as Premium Bandai items.
This is typical for Gundam, Longand pretty much everything else Bandai Spirits handles, so changing that is definitely weird.
To give some real context to this, both of the above Armored core VI Robot Damashii releases are still widely available throughout Tokyo. This is also usually a bad sign, as popular designs sell out almost immediately. The fact that they haven’t is because most people probably don’t know or recognize what they are.
That’s what he said, I did pick up Robot Damashii HAL 826 toyand it’s great. The sculpting and detailing are some of the best I’ve seen in a long time. Despite not being a Metal Robot Damashii release, the joints also use a lot of cast parts.
Likewise, this new Ortus game looks amazing and I will definitely be buying one when it comes out in Japan this July. Priced at ¥19,800 (or about $125) it’s also the most expensive release to date for the Armored Core VI Damashii Robot Games.
Armored core VI is available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Feel free to check out my review as well.
follow me X, Facebook and YouTube. I can do it too Mecha Damashii and I am currently presenting at Giant Robot exhibition currently touring Japan.
