Skywatchers will be treated in one of the most spectacular astronomical sights of the year on Friday, September 19, 2025, during a rare combination of the Moon, Aphrodite and Bright Star Regulus. The three celestial bodies will appear to be to some extent from each other, forming a almost perfect straight line alignment for some and a tight triangle for others, depending on the location.

The Sky Chart, which shows a combination between the Moon, Aphrodite and Regulus in the eastern sky before sunrise on September 19, 2025.

Basic events

The three objects will examine the best of about 90 minutes before Sunrise throughout North America On the morning of Friday, September 19th 2025. Look low in the east-northeast before dawn.

A moon moon, just 6%, will be a spectacular spectacle in itself, either with the naked eye or via binoculars.

About a quarter of the degree below Crescent Moon, Venus will shine about 100 times brighter than Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo, just below it.

The spectacle is ready to be one of the nearest and most visually impressive moon-venus couples of the year.

It will be a fleeting sight. The next morning, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, the moon will be removed from Aphrodite and Regulus.

Friday, September 19th: A Crescent Moon, Venus and Regulus in a very Cloe combination.

How will the combination look like from North America

What you will see from North America will depend on where you notice. To the north and east of the US, there will be an almost perfect alignment of the Moon, Aphrodite and Regulus. In the south and west, Venus will appear a little higher, forming a triangle. However, none of the Wow factors will be lost – this will be a very narrow combination easily visible with naked eye from all over North America. If you have binoculars, all three will fit their visual field.

Hide in Northern Canada and Greenland

According to In-the- sky.orgThe moon will hide Aphrodite from some parts of the world. As shown by parts of Africa, Europe, Western Russia, Canada, Greenland and Asia, the moon will cover Aphrodite for a short time. Although only the distant Canada will see it, the rest of the country will see an impressive narrow combination of the Moon and Aphrodite.
