What to watch this weekend.

As always, I searched the internet high and low for the best movies and TV shows on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney+ and everywhere else. October flew by. The next time you read one of these guides, it will be Halloween!

If you have any tips or I missed something, please send me a message Twitter, Instagramor Facebook. You can see last weekend’s streaming guide here. Let’s dive right in!

New shows and movies this weekend

IT: Welcome To Derry (HBO Max)

Undoubtedly Stephen Kingthe most famous book of all time, THE has been adapted for the big screen many times, but this is the first TV series based on Pennywise the Clown and the children of Derry he terrorises. Bill Skarsgård returns in this prequel series. I’ve heard good things, although the 76% Rotten Tomatoes rating isn’t as high as we’d hoped.

Nobody Wants This — Season 2 (Netflix)

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody returning for a second season of the popular Netflix romantic comedy, Nobody wants thatabout an agnostic podcaster named Joanna and the hot rabbi Noah she falls for. This time, Brody’s real wife, Leighton Meesterjoins the cast as Joanna’s rival. This has already risen to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 shows list.

Mayor Of Kingstown — Season 4 (Paramount+)

Taylor Sheridanpopular crime drama Mayor of Kingstown returns as his other popular crime drama, Tulsa King, also airing on Paramount+. Say what you will about Sheridan, he sure knows how to keep the content flowing. Jeremy Renner starring and with him several newcomers to the cast, among them Nurse Jackie‘small Eddie Falco and Tthe walking dead‘small Lenny James. The first two episodes will be released on Sunday.

A House Of Dynamite (Netflix)

Kathryn Bigelow‘small A house made of dynamite is a tense political thriller about a nuclear missile headed for the United States. As the ICBM approaches Chicago, the president and his team realize that it may not be possible to stop its trajectory. Protagonists of the film Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Caitlin Dever and more. Bigelow is no stranger to political thrillers. Her work includes The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty among others. With an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, this is definitely one to watch out for. The film is out today on Netflix. Check out other new movies on Netflix in October here.

Allen Iv3rson (Prime Video)

A new three-part documentary about one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Allen Iverson, This should be an entertaining and informative watch for NBA fans. A fun element is the music, which Iverson contributed to the director’s choice of the series A 9.

Boots (Netflix)

This was on my What To Watch list a few weeks ago and honestly flew under my radar until I posted it, and even then I was busy with other shows and didn’t get around to checking it out until last week – so I missed all eight episodes in a matter of days. It’s absolutely fantastic. The story follows a new recruit in the US Marines, Cameron Cope (Miles Heiser) going to bootcamp in 1990. Cope is gay, and at the time, being gay in the US military was illegal. What follows is a truly inspiring, heartwarming coming-of-age story about young men finding purpose and companionship in one of the most unforgiving, yet oddly satisfying, places you can imagine. The cast is awesome. The writing is top notch. I highly recommend.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere (In theaters)

The new Bruce Springsteen The biopic hits theaters this weekend, and while it’s not getting the best reviews, audiences seem to be quite fond of it. Jeremy Allen White he plays the famous rock star and he is joined by some great supporting actors like Jeremy Strong (Succession) and Stephen Graham (Teens).

The Chair Company (HBO Max)

Always hilarious and wacky Tim Robinson stars in this quirky comedy/conspiracy thriller about Ronald Trosper, a middle manager at a shopping mall company who finds himself investigating a mysterious chair company after he sits in one of their chairs and it breaks, causing him to fall to the floor in an embarrassing public incident that turns his entire world upside down. Its third episode The Chair Company it comes out on sunday.

The Lowdown — Season 1 (FX/Hulu)

The Lowdown is an entertaining crime drama from Detention dogs director, Sterlin Harjo. Ethan Hawke stars as citizen journalist and “truther” Lee Raybon as he deals with local corrupt businessmen and white supremacists, seeking truth and justice and maybe just a little glory along the way. New episodes come out on Tuesdays. Read my review here.

Gen V — Season 2 (Prime Video)

of Amazon The Boys spinoff, Gen V, is nearing the end of its second season, and while I’ve been a little disappointed with this franchise lately, several readers have told me that I really should watch it. Well, I’ve got some catching up to do. The series follows students at a university for “supes” as they face threats new and old, including the current dean, Cipher (Hamish Linklater). New episodes are released on Wednesdays on Prime Video.
