Google is testing a usability upgrade in one of the most useful Google Photos features.

As revealed in recent Android principle Report, the popular photo feature of Google Photos could soon get an upgrade that makes usage faster and easier. Google introduced photo stacks in 2024 as a way to group similar photos to “stacks” that arrange near Duplicate images behind your favorite bunch, which you can signal as “top choice”.
Currently, any actions related to photo stacks require you to throw away the image you see to see the full details of the photo. Here, you can find stack management options, such as “Add to the album”, “Move to Archive”, “Set up to the upholstery”, etc.

The new interface, which has not yet been activated for users, adds a pop -up menu under the image when you see a member of a photo stack. By pressing on a small arrow near the bottom of the screen, you can quickly display a command menu, including:
- Set as a top choice (provided you don’t already see the top option)
- Keep this, delete the rest
- Remove from stack
- Discover
- Multilevel
- Stack management
Google is testing some new simplified photo stacks checks on Google Photos.
FittingThe first four of these menu options largely reflect the photo stack checks that are currently available with Swiping Up, but make them faster and easier to access by separating them from the long list of options in the details that are not related to photographic stacks. The new “Multi-Select” option, the menu option replaces the current multi-choice icon, depicted as four tiny squares, sitting to the left of the images selector, while the “stack management” option takes you to the menu “Photo Views” menu where you can turn on or off.
The new interface was discovered by the well -known applications analyst Fittingwho discovered and allowed the code for the new photo stack menu, which is hidden in the latest version 7.19 of the Google Photos Android app. As is always the case with non -circulated features like this, there is no guarantee that it will be released to users in its current form. However, it gives us a picture of how Google is constantly evolving Google Photos to improve usability over time. Photographic stacks have seen many tinkering since it was first introduced, but not all test features have done the hands of users.
