Motorola Razr Ultra on Pantone Mountain Trail as tested

Much has changed on Motorola’s Razr Foldables line from its original launch in 2020. The original Razr Foldable did not have 5G and reminds of the Razr V3 Flip from the early 2000s. While Motorola was definitely supported by a little nostalgia for the trafficking of the new RAZR Galaxy Z Flip, which also started in 2020.

Historically, Motorola has been criticized for not using state -of -the -art chipsets at RAZR at high prices. To offset this, Motorola prioritized larger coverage screens. It also introduced the RAZR base model with a smaller external display and a more moderate processor, along with the Razr+ model with a larger external display and a One Rung processor below the flagship level of Qualcomm.

This year, Motorola has expanded the composition to three devices, introducing the high-end Motorola Razr Ultra. This is the first RAZR to incorporate Qualcomm’s Top-Bin processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Meanwhile, Samsung has expanded its own composition to two devices with Flip7 Fe.

In my opinion, Motorola’s Razr+ was already a more competitive device than Flip6 last year, even if the processor was not so fast. It had a much larger screen and more advanced software. With this year’s Razr Ultra, Motorola has become the clear leader-increasing the ante with a fastest processor than Flip7, a slightly larger cover screen and better coverage capabilities.

How does Moto Razr Ultra compare?

The Razr Ultra is 7.0 inches indoor size, slightly larger than 6.9 -inch screens in both Flip7 and Razr+. Meanwhile, the Razr Ultra coverage screen is 4.0 inches, almost attracting the 4.1 -inch Flip7 display. The Elite Snapdragon 8 processor is better than Flip7’s Samsung Exynos 2500 and Razr+Snapdragon 8S 3. I returned the Razr Ultra against other Snapdragon 8 smartphones, including folders and reached the fastest level of performance I’ve ever seen for a double. In Geekbench 6, the Razr Ultra even negotiates hits with flagship candle-bar phones such as the OnePlus 13 and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra both in performance of a core and multiple nuclei. At 3DMark Wildlife Extreme, tied to the OnePlus 13 for the fastest Android phone I’ve ever tried.

Since their establishment, the foldables have generally not executed as well as typical caramel-bar smartphones, but the Razr Ultra Bucks which is a trend. It features 16GB of RAM (upgrade from the 12GB of the latest generation Moto Razr+flagship of the RAZR+) using much faster LPDDR5X 9600 MT/S from Micron. I believe this helps to make a difference in performance, especially taking into account the requirements of AI and AI applications. The Razr Ultra also comes standard with 512GB of storage, which once again puts pressure on Samsung.

Razr Ultra sells for $ 1,299 against Samsung Flip7 $ 1,099, but there are some clear differences that I think justify the cost difference. Samsung performs a launch promotion that offers 512GB of pre-order storage, compared to its standard 256GB capacity. But given that Moto starts already at 512GB (and beats users at 1TB for pre-order), Samsung promotion does not really fit the Moto Agreement. That everything stated, in my experience, 512GB is enough for the largest user smartphone. The 1TB is more beautiful, knowing that it probably will never be exhausted, even if you use it for three or four years.

The battery capacity and the charge of the Razr Ultra are also impressive. The Razr Ultra packages an impressive 4700 mAh, which is almost the same level as the 5000 mAh of the S25 Ultra, while lagging behind the 6000 mAh of OnePlus 13. This makes almost 20% more battery capacity (along with a more efficient chip) than last year RAZR+ (4000 mAh) MAH. Heck, Razr Ultra’s battery capacity is even greater than Samsung’s Fold7 I am currently evaluating, which is only 4400 mAh, using the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

In addition to Samsung, the Razr Ultra is competitive with the global smartphone market, matching Huawei’s Pura X Flip Phone at 4700 mAh and is approaching the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2’s 5100 MAh. The Razr Ultra also has another faster 68-Watt charging speed, which improves the latest generation’s 45 watts, as well as all other Flip Folds (including Xiaomi’s offer at 67 watts). The phones that fold the books offer faster charge, but the Flip7 and Fold7 of Samsung only offers 25 watts, which are also slower than the 45 Watts of the S25 Ultra.

Moto Razr Ultra Cameras and Design Elements

Moto probably made the least improvements to the Razr Ultra than other RAZR models in terms of the main camera configurations of the phone. Double rear cameras are still 50MP sensors. I liked, however, that the company upgraded the 50MP interior selfie camera to match the other two sensors-from 32MP to Razr+. This makes sense when considering how often people are likely to afford the phone on its own and use the internal screen to take photos and videos.

Despite moderate cameras improvements, this is still a much better configuration than Samsung’s Flip7, which includes only a 50MP wide angle camera, a 12MP Ultra-Lide camera and a 10MP camera. Samsung’s fold7, on the other hand, offers a triple camera with a main 200MP sensor, a spacious 12MP angle and 10MP Ultra-Lide.

Portrait mode on this phone competes with that of the best phones I’ve ever used. It looks natural and real. Until now, I have never taken so many selfies or recorded so many selfies videos with a phone holding himself on a table. I liked to take advantage of all three 50MP cameras in Razr Ultra, even though I really wanted to have a 3x or larger telephoto. However, I was very pleased with the quality of the Razr Ultra camera, though I think there is room for low performance improvement.

One criticism I have on camera software is that the default color setting has been set to “live”, which produces extremely opposite colors. It makes everyone look like wearing lipsticks. While I do not expect Moto to push the “natural” environment (which sometimes looks a little undercut), the “radiation” setting seems to be the happy middle ground and must be the default.

Finally, Razr Ultra uses premium materials and unique colors thanks to Moto’s collaboration with Pantone (for which I wrote for In the review of the RAZR series). I personally love the use of materials such as Alcantara and Wood to give Razr Ultra a unique look and feel. I also liked the distinctive colors that Moto had in the previous generation and I am glad that the company continues to lean on them. These finishing and premium materials complement the overall feel and features of Razr Ultra – which, I believe, help the Motorola success in the rest of the Android ecosystem and even in Apple.

The Motorola Razr Ultra comes in three colors and launch materials.

Motorola Razr Ultra is more than a peak

Motorola does not only regulate the standard for folding flip performance. He also set the standard for how to look and feel a flip foldable. Everything about this device feels high-end, from the features of multiple models and multi-models AI that combine twins, embarrassment and blade to the long high performance battery. It is also one of the first smartphones to be able to fully saturate my 1Gbps fiber connection via Wi-Fi 7 with Speedtest, even throughout the apartment in 6 gigahertz.

In terms of AI, I am a heavy user of Gemini and embarrassment, so I really liked that both were quite obvious on this device. But I can’t say that I used so much of the Moto AI’s capabilities, such as Catch Me Up (which summarizes your lost alerts and messages) or the playlist studio (which is limited to Amazon’s music). I also used a smart connection to a Lenovo X1 Carbon and found the experience somewhat fragmented – and not more complete than the Windows Phone connection. These experiences are not enough for me yet, but they may be below the road.

What I liked is that Razr Ultra exploits the Snapdragon Sound for high quality Bluetooth sound and that it supports Dolby Vision and ATMOS for excellent video recording and playing. With such a big battery, it is nice to know that you can easily enjoy videos and music for a long period.

What will happen for the folding? More AI

Many people in the mobile industry believe that folding is the future of smartphones. If you consider the smartphone as a hub for all mobile computers, then a high performance folds with a large battery, a quick processor and good connectivity looks ideal. It is quite portable, such as a flip, but is also able to control your headphones, your smartwatch, your AR glasses or whatever is worn AI you want to use.

In the end, Moto clearly understands that the smartphone is the central part of the AI experience. Although there is no doubt that abundant AI is going to happen in the cloud, there will also be increasing demand for hybrid and AI capabilities that allow better security, privacy and latent situation. (Not coincidentally, all of this matches Qualcomm’s philosophy for the inherent hybrid nature of the consumer AI.)

While I do not think that Moto AI is necessarily where it is significantly different from other AI solutions, it is obvious that Motorola is thinking about AI differently from the rest of the Android ecosystem and is considering the offer of choices and adaptation of consumer. This will undoubtedly be a repetitive approach, but I know that Motorola has explored the AI agents and experiences that would allow your phone to perform complex actions on your behalf. This is something Motorola’s preview at Lenovo Tech World last year, after the lead of companies such as Rabbit (with his playground). Motorola also has already searched for Razr’s adjustment with its own Newer brilliant collection collaboration with SwarovskiContinuing the route of fashion and design. I believe that Motorola wants to allow people to express themselves more with their phones, while providing them with cutting -edge flagship technology such as Moto Razr Ultra.
