“It Ends With Us” was dethroned by a new movie on Netflix’s top 10 list

Well, I thought it would stay at #1 a bit longer, but I was proven wrong. It Ends with Us has dropped to #2 The list of the 10 best movies on Netflix after a few days. Now, an original Netflix action thriller has gotten its toy, Carry-On.

Carry-On has a really good cast that includes Kingsman’s Taron Egerton and Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman (I know he’s done a lot, but he’ll always be Michael Bluth to me, even though this isn’t a comedy). It also features former Disney star Sofia Carson and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who has made some…interesting movies, but I liked a few, like The Shallows (ironically starring Blake Lively, her movie, his new movie just got lost) . Also in his catalog are Orphan, House of Wax, Jungle Cruise and Black Adam. It’s definitely a wide range.

TSA agent thriller! But even if it sounds a bit silly, the film comments quite well, sitting in one 86% review scorepretty solid for a netflix original movie. And it debuted straight to #1, which shows a level of audience interest.

It’s interesting that the closer we get to Christmas, the less Christmas movies appear at the top of the list here, and I swear there were more in November than there are now. However, Netflix doesn’t have the best selection of Christmas movies, and most of its catalog is one-off productions about small-town women meeting attractive men. But hey, it’s a popular genre for a reason. He’s also booked Lindsay Lohan to star in a few of them, and those have always done well, including this year’s entry, Our Little Secret, which was actually #1 a week or two ago.

As for Carry-On, writing this has convinced me to watch it tonight with the family, as it looks like it could be a solid thriller, based on these reviews and this cast. Let’s hope these ratings prove accurate and it’s a good use of two hours. I’ll report how it goes once I finish it.
