War of the Gray Zone topped the Steam Charts less than 24 hours after its Early Access release.
After being released to the public for the first time yesterday, War of the Gray Zone now tops the Steam Top Sellers chart, beating out its Early Access peers Lords Mansion which previously held first place. It turns out to be even more popular than the Steam Deck, which often tops the charts given its popularity.
Gray Zone Warfare’s The surprise launch seems to have done him good, given his many fans Escape from Tarkov they were looking for a new and similar game to play after last week’s furor which saw many players quit Tarkov. While Gray Zone has many differences from Tarkovscratches the same itch as a realistic export-based shooter and the Tarkov the community has taken to it in huge numbers.
But the success led to some problems with server capacity and bugs. These seem to have been patched within hours of appearing, and personally, I’ve had no server issues since the first few hours after release.
However, this led to some backlash from players unable to get into the game due to server queue times, or players who found the fairly reasonable system requirements too high for their PC. Many of these players took to the Steam reviews to voice their displeasure, resulting in a mixed bag of reviews for War of the Gray Zone.
There have been some more serious bugs, such as some players not having heads or clothes, missing items in their inventory, and not being able to accept quests, but there has already been a hotfix that aims to solve some of these issues. If you are experiencing similar issues, some players have reported that verifying the game files on Steam has resolved the issue.
But if your computer is powerful enough to run the game, you’ll probably have a great time War of the Gray Zone, especially as many improvements have been made since the first streamer-only test last week. However, when you first get into the game, there are a lot of things that aren’t explained, so you might want to read some tips and tricks or how to complete the initial missions.
