Despite the reasons by UFC President Dana White and others, the Famer’s future room and former temporary light champion Tony Ferguson do not withdraw. The recently liberated veteran, in an epic eight -match lost, has a date of return and an opponent.
Ferguson, 41, who has now signed with the World Fight Union, will face former competitor Bellator Dillon Danis on May 11 in Los Angeles. Ferguson confirmed the date and opponent when he appeared as a visitor Ariel Helwani Show On Monday 3 March.
Ferguson didn’t seem terrible for a while. However, he has faced some fighters quite elite during his lost series. The defeats began to accumulate in May 2020, when he lost to Justin Gaethje from the fifth round KO.
Later that year, Ferguson lost a unanimous decision to Charles Oliveira. In May 2021, Ferguson threw another unanimous decision to benefit Darius. The following year, things became a little brutal as the holidays began – and some of them were devastating.
In May 2022, Michael Chandler hit Ferguson with the front kick from hell.

In September 2022, Ferguson was submitted by Nate Diaz. In July 2023, it was submitted by Bobby “King” Green, followed by a unanimous defeat for the decision to Paddy Pimblett in December 2023 and another loss of submission to Michael Chiesa in August 2024 El Cucuy’s Finale UFC.
No fighter in UFC history had a longer lost order. The loss of Ferguson in Chiesa broke another legend, BJ Penn’s, a record for successive futility.
Danis was a fighter who is hard to get serious as a combat athlete. Former Conor McGregor training partner holds a 2-0 record on MMA.

He is known for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Prowss, but was able to overturn the reputation he gathered in his connection with McGregor in crossover opportunities-such as the boxing race he has March 29 vs. KSI.
While Ferguson proved to be from his top to the UFC, it may not be crazy to indicate that he could be more competitive against an infinite and less complementary fighter like Danis.
Ferguson’s hardcore fans will hope that they will have the opportunity to see their beloved fighter get his hand to get up again. On the other hand, he will suck to see him lose again – especially to a fighter who has not devoted as much to the sport as Ferguson has throughout his career.
It seems that the May event will be GFL’s first performance. The space has not been revealed, but when you take a look at the calendar, the date is not bad for the new promotion.
It’s a Sunday, the day after UFC 315, so there will not be much sports race. From a sporting point of view, there could be a conflict with Sunday Baseball and the NBA Playoff Action.
In any case, I would be surprised if something from GFL does not tend to multiple social media platforms. Will the attention of the second event last? This remains to be seen. As a sports journalist, I would love to see it work, but I would lie if I said I had great hopes.
I would love to make a mistake for the chances of GFL and Ferguson winning.
