CM Punk was a guest on a recent episode of Mostly Sports and discussed various topics with Mark Titus and Brandon Walker. During the interview, Punk revealed the one thing he still hasn’t accomplished in pro wrestling and has a distinct Chicago feel for the Windy City native.
Chicago’s latest conquest

After being asked what is left to conquer in Chicago, Punk made it clear that he has an important space on his mind. “Wrigley Field. Wrest at Wrigley Field,” Punk said. “I’m putting it out into the universe right now. The executives at Wrigley are fighting, they want a WWE show.”
THE current heavyweight champion of the world he explained that he has already accomplished everything else in his hometown. “I mean, I’ve sold out every place in Chicago with a roof,” he said. “Well now I have to go to these outdoor places. And Wrigley to me is a church. It’s got a little bit of wrestling history. There were some matches there.”

WWE and the MLB scheduling problem
After being asked about the logistics of holding an event at Wrigley Field, Punk didn’t hold back on pointing the finger at Major League Baseball. “The problem with that, and I’m going to throw Major League Baseball under the bus, is they won’t release the schedule until they want to, so we can’t start and see dates and things like that,” Punk explained.
He continued: “Yes, Wrigley hosts concerts in the summer, but they’re not going to get us enough interest to figure out dates. So I was kind of looking for the Dodgers to win the World Series to cement a lock in 2027. I’m 100% selfish, if there’s no baseball in 2027, I’m ignorant.”
WWE is already exploring premium live events at outdoor baseball stadiums. On Saturday, November 29, Survivor Series War Games is coming to Petco Park in San Diego, California. This event will be a homecoming for Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio.
If WWE and Major League Baseball can get on the same page, you have to think that this is something that could happen in 2026. There’s no doubt that the promotion would have a boatload of cash for the event. Elimination Chamber is set for the United Center in Chicago in February 2026.
