A new update has landed on iOS 26, just 14 days after the start of the new cycle.

This post has initial thoughts about the new version and I will update this post next week and I will make a final evaluation on Tuesday 7 October.

Who is it for and how do you get it?

The new iOS 26 software cycle, including iOS 26.0.1, works for all iPhones from 2019. This is the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 1 Pro max models and every phone since then. In addition to the iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 and so on to the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, also includes second and third -generation iPhone models.

To update, open the iPhone settings app, click General, then update software. Then select download and installation and the software will download from there. This is a short shot, less than 1GB on the iPhone 17 Pro max, 989.9MB, to be accurate.

What is it

The new software landed with a stroke on iOS 26 and it is noteworthy that most of the bites in this update, just two weeks after the big arrival, are dealing with the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air. In other words, models that did not have extensive public tests earlier iPhones have.

As mentioned here, precise ups and downs apply to an error had been found where Wi-Fi and Bluetooth especially in the iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air will occasionally disconnected. Although not applicable to all, some users have not been able to connect to a mobile network as soon as they were updated to iOS 26. A camera issue for the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro left unexpected objects in some images has also been specified. Finally, an issue where applications with custom shades could occur.

Apple iOS 26.0.1 Security

There is a security issue here we know so far, and since Apple has released iOS 18.7.1 at the same time, we know that it has influenced more iPhones than the autumn 2025 releases. The safety defect affects the fontparser that handles the fonts on the phone and can cause problems.

Initial reactions

Carplay did not mention the list of corrections and some users have noted that the issue, where the connection falls, is still happening. Several comments are reported in better performance after installing iOS 26.0.1 and the best battery life – enough to suggest updating on their own. Users who had cellular connectivity issues (as otherwise from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) say things had not improved.

Apple iOS 26 Initial verdict: Update

So far, there are no new issues that have been introduced with the latest update, it seems, and with users claiming a better battery life, this is an easy “update now” recommendation.

Final verdict next week.
