This year’s TOKYO GAME saw a notable increase in participants in two business days.

Ollie barder

Now that this year’s Tokyo game is behind us, the formal entry elements They have been released and revealed that it was a busy year.

However, the interesting thing is that the official entry numbers (presented below) actually increased only on business days, with public days having about 20% fall. While working days saw a big blow, again about 20%.

That is why, when recording my year’s show, I commented on the noticeable increase in people as I watched on Thursday, which saw about 10,000 more people compared to last year.

During the four days of the show, the total participation was 263,101, who was slightly shorter than last year, which came to 274,739 participants.

These are the official numbers for the Tokyo game in the last three years.

Swing

My guess why the number of publicity has fallen is that there were fewer console game announcements this year, and still big complications for mobile games that no one really wants to visit.

However, business days are definitely full and to host this, the Tokyo Game Show will add an additional day next year. With the event extending from Thursday, September 17, until Monday, September 21, the latter was a Japanese national holiday.

This will be the first time in the history of the Tokyo game show that the event will take place in 5 days.

As for the impact of all the redundancies we’ve seen in recent years, most big games have a 7-8 year development cycle. So the new games that appear this year probably started their lives around 2017-2018.

In short, we will not see the impact of gaming redundancies for the coming years, so this obvious “explosion” is not happening in real time, which is worth noting.
