Friday is named after the god Freya or Freyja, the most famous goddess in Norse mythology and the equivalent of Venus in Roman mythology. In Romance languages like Spanish, Friday is named after Venus, for example, Viernes, but every day is named similarly. Both Freyja and Venus are goddesses of fertility, beauty, passion and sexuality. Freyja, however, is a more warlike goddess and even participates in choosing warriors for her hall in the afterlife. Today’s Mini
Well, I got through today’s Mini Crossword. I wasn’t sure about the 1-Across, so I skipped ahead and took the next three. Once again, I wasn’t sure about 9-Across, so I went down, where almost everything fell into place immediately, filling in what I had missed. In total, this only took 35 seconds today! I think it’s my fastest so far. Not too shabby!
