Wondering which country is Senegal’s neighbor to the east? Not sure who the star is The Bear is it? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s longest running crossword puzzle. Most days, there are three to five clues in each direction on a five-by-five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.
Unlike its older sibling, the NYT Mini the crossword puzzle is free to play at New York Times website or the NYT Games app. However, you will need a NYT Games subscription to access past puzzles in the archives.
So that you don’t get stuck and have to uncover missing letters, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers for Friday August 16 (spoilers ahead, of course):

He took me 2:53 to complete today’s NYT Mini.
Another tough one, but it was also a bigger grid than usual for a Friday. I got JEREMY (since I just finished his last season The Bear this week) and SHADOW on my first stab at the Down indications. The JEST and YEWS on the Down clues helped me figure out ESCAPE from the other side.
This made MESHES and IMPORT clear. Back to the Across cues and the TENORS and SENT were then clear. These finally helped me figure out ARCANE and LEAD ON to complete the grid.
