‘Fortnite’ is getting Elon Musk’s Tesla Cybertruck as a new combat vehicle

Well, you can’t say that Fortnite isn’t expanding its crossover concept. According to a new trailer just released today, Elon Musk’s beloved Tesla Cybertruck will be coming to Fortnite starting tomorrow, and they debuted new trailer to show it:

The trailer shows a powerful fish, a tank, and an opposing truck trying to pull a Cybertruck back, to no avail. Tesla claims an 11,000-pound towing capacity, hence the idea here, it seems.

It seemed like if there was ever a game that would get a guest appearance from Cybertruck, it would be Musk’s beloved Cyberpunk 2077, where the mother of Grimes’ children plays a major character. But that never happened and now we’ve arrived at this Fortnite crossover.

Musk has previously shown off the Cybertruck’s durability by emptying various machine guns into its side, an idea that now makes sense for a car being shot at by Fortnite players. But of course the Cybertruck’s most famous moment was when Elon tried to display a similar force on its windows and promptly broke two of them.

Online, Twitter (which Musk owns) has taken to roasting the Cybertruck for both its looks and its advertised off-road activity which seems minimal at best. There are also videos of various quality defects in the car:

Cybertruck too suffered a widespread recall based on on its accelerator pedal assembly that could become detached while driving. However, Cybertruck… sells. The $100,000 vehicle that sweeps away rivals like the Ford F-150 Lightning. There’s clearly a market for it, despite its history of functionality issues and debate over its appearance.

As for Fortnite, I’m sure Musk is happy that it became such a popular video game, not that the average Fortnite player can afford such a vehicle. But we’ve already seen crossovers / branding deals with other cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari in the past. So why not Cybertruck?

We’ll see how players react to this soon, but for now, the partnership is just being heard as we speak.
