Hello, Connectors! I hope you’ve had a great week so far.

It was my partner’s kid’s birthday this week! I haven’t been able to celebrate the occasion with them yet, unfortunately, but I’m really looking forward to it. The forecast for this weekend looks good, so the plan is to come and jump in the pool (not literally – my building management would not approve).

I can’t wait to see her reaction when we tell her about her gift from us. I’ll spill the beans on that in today’s suggestions section 🙂 I haven’t given anything away yet, so apparently the kid is now calling me top secret. I’ve certainly had worse nicknames.

These are the species Connections I like games more. Sixteen terms that seem completely different at first before you start to see how they intertwine. Yes, please. More than that.

The names stood out to me first, partly because I have no idea what DAN DAN NOODLES are and thought there had to be some play on words.

TALKIE was meant to be some sort of reference film. This led me to think of things that were known by more common names, which resulted in me getting the green ones.

COPYCAT, MIME and MOCKINGBIRD had to go along and the T-1000 (from Terminator 2: Judgment Day) was a natural fit. That left the purples and the accusation there jumped out at me.

My streak is now at 487. It would be pretty funny if I lost it tomorrow wouldn’t it?

How did you do this time? Here is my grid:

🟩
🨟🨟
🦟
🟪🟪

PS For the aforementioned little girl’s birthday present, we’re taking her to her first concert by an artist she really likes. I really dig Ariana Grande’s music too, but I realized I haven’t heard anything from her latest album yet.

“Hate That I Made You Love Me” is a very Ariana-coded song title. I don’t think it’s as exciting as a lot of her previous work, but I do enjoy a good downtempo synth-pop bop:

Good day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!

Please follow my blog for more NYT links hints and help with other word games and even some video game news, information and analysis. It helps me a lot! Share this column with other people playing Connections will also be appreciated. You can also read my weekend editions of this column in my newsletter, Hobby.
