It was updated on October 12 with more details on the offer and where the SOS emergency is available through satellite.
Apple introduced SOS emergency via satellite to the iPhone in 2022. At that time, it was revolutionary, though other services, such as T-Mobile’s T-Satellite, have added to the spectrum of options. Now, Apple has announced the latest extension of this option. And it is worth remembering that Apple, which has never charged this service, recently announced that the first users, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 15 users, have now received an additional year of free access.
Emergency text via satellite on iPhone

Later this year, for Mexico users, Apple will add SOS emergency through satellite to its services. Currently, find my satellite and satellite messages available in the country, but not an emergency.
This means that all iPhone 14 users with iPhone 14 and later, up to the newly established iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, will have access to this service, free of charge. The same is true for users with Apple Watch Ultra 3.
Apple gave a statement to 9TO5MACSaying: “SOS emergency satellite on iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra allows users to text emergency services and to update emergency contacts even when they do not have cell or Wi-Fi coverage.”
“Since began with the iPhone 14 in 2022, he has contributed to many saved lives.
It works when you are out of normal cellular coverage or Wi-Fi. To use the service, it is necessary to show the iPhone or watch Ultra 3 towards the sky. You must have direct visual contact for the sky and software on the phone or clock will guide you about where to show the device. The clock, incidentally, can be held at the normal height of the wrist so you can see the screen easily.
On the contrary, the T-Satellite offers connectivity to the satellite even when the phone is in your pocket and is connected to Starlink and not to Apple’s selected partner, Globalstar.
It is believed that other carriers are likely to introduce more satellite services, which are not provided by Globalstar in the near future.
At present, however, there are countries that offer additional services to the iPhone. For example, satellite road assistance is available in the US, United Kingdom and Australia.
Only three countries offer satellite messages: Mexico (as mentioned above), the US and Canada.
Then there is the big list, these countries by finding my available satellite. This consists of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the US and the US
Finally, the list of countries with a satellite SOS is identical to the above, except for Mexico, which will arrive later in 2025.
