WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason didn’t get the opponent he wanted for his comeback fight on July 4, but the Cleveland native will continue to do his best to put on a show for the hometown fans. In front of a national audience at the Wolstein Center, Mason will defend his crown against veteran Albert Bell on the debut episode of The Fight. Let’s talk boxing.

Mason doesn’t just have his title on the line. fights in front of his hometown and gives title. Some fighters like Jaime Munguia have withered in this situation. Mason will have to guard against a possible disappointment. Bell is not the opponent Mason is preparing for, as he is the late replacement for Joe Cordina. Mason can’t take Belle lightly. He can’t just win. it must do so impressively.
A statement victory keeps the 22-year-old on track for unification talks in a lightweight division loaded with straps. For Belle, 33 and summoned shortly after Cordina was denied a visaan upset would rewrite a career the rankings had buried.
